VIDEO ADDED. Here is a very nice set of Yamaha 80's Recording Custom in a bop outfit; 14x18", 8x12", and 14x14". These drums are all original birch "real wood" Yamaha Recording Customs. Their bass drum has had a Gretsch Pratt muffler installed that functions nicely and is installed the correct distance from its bearing edge. There are a few cosmetic marks in the finish on this set, but nothing more severe than the ding on the bass drum, left of the badge panel - you can see this and a few other small cosmetic marks in our photos. There is some minor pedal rash on the bass drum's batter hoop. These drums sound excellent and will make for an incredible performing bop set! Steve’s notes: The 80s era Yamaha Recording Custom sets are legendary for their sound. Just ask Steve Gadd, who has played them for decades, including his incredible performance on Steely Dan’s “Aja”. Now, Steve Gadd’s sound on that recording is not the same as what a jazz combo player would prefer, so you have to wonder if the smaller bop sizes would sound good for small combo jazz. Well, check out the video. You’ll see that these 80s era 12/14/18 Recording Custom sets deliver 100%. The sound is crisp, clear, articulate, and with the right amount of warmth.
