This violin does play well, but it's appeal is more in its rarity and historical value. Gibson made violins for only a few years. The wood they chose is beautiful; pics attached of the wonderful grain and the amazing flaming on the back! I won't brag about every part of the workmanship, but it's not the beginner model with the painted purfling (the V-15). Real work and great materials went into this, for sure. It has some rough elements to the finish, some dings that you can see, and the neck was repaired before it came into my hands. The back isn't curved completely symmetrically. It's been fun to play on, but I just got another violin to take its place and am ready to part with it. I was a bit surprised to see this go for $750+ and listed for thousands, but they do seem to be that rare. Enjoy! Comes with the pictured case and bow (the bow is nothing to write home about, as far as I can tell).
