This is NOT a marimba, but a marimbula! It is certainly novel, and screams stage presence! But also practical - if you’re looking for an upright bass alternative, here it is. No more strings to tune. Or maybe you love kalimbas, and you need the biggest baddest beastliest one for your collection. 

Full chromatic scale. Nice warm tones. Extending cello endpin to make it rest where you need it, whether you’re standing or sitting. And a 1/4” jack for plugging in so all the world can be serenaded.

It has some rash from use, but sound isn’t affected, and what’s an instrument without character?

Playing it: Hold between the knees like a cello, or leaned against you. Some hold it on the lap, others play with the instrument lying flat. The best most powerful sound results when the top and back are free to vibrate, and the instrument is close to the floor. The body is 30" tall, 24" wide, and 6" deep; weight is 8 lbs.

Playing technique is simple: pluck the wooden keys, or use soft mallets for a different sound. The keys may be retuned to accomodate any musical mode by sliding the keys in or out to raise or lower the pitch. It is tuned F, C, G, D, A, E, B (with “black keys” above). This circle of fifths pattern makes basic accompaniment simple, and the degrees of the scale are intuitive: from I, IV and V are on either side.
