This drum balances out nicely. The somewhat live shell is subdued a bit by the diecast batter hoop, and the brass shell has a nice presence and low end at the same time. If you wanted to try to open this drum up at the expense of the powerful rimshot and cross stick, a $15 triple flanged hoop could be a cool way to get another sound out of this drum. In good condition.
