Pearly Gates

Our country-fried Pearly Gates humbucker pickups transform any Les Paul-style guitar into a classic rock outlaw. The Pearly Gates neck pickup captures all the mojo of the original pickup from Billy Gibbons’ 1959 Les Paul. It’s a P.A.F. with a unique tonal variation, providing more midrange than typical humbuckers from that era. The result is a neck pickup that cuts through with stronger tailored mids while maintaining the open, airy treble attack of the Alnico 2 bar magnet. Combined with a warm, spongy low end, this pickup excels for both rhythm and lead playing.

Seymour discovered that Billy’s bridge pickup had slightly more output than most P.A.F.s, giving it extra drive and a special edge. The Alnico 2 bar magnet keeps the high end airy yet focused, and the midrange emphasis delivers a unique Texas-style sizzle. With a growl all its own, this pickup will bring any humbucker-equipped guitar to life.

Hand-built in our Santa Barbara, CA factory, the Pearly Gates vintage-output humbucker pickups use an Alnico 2 bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for versatile wiring options, and are vacuum wax-potted for squeal-free performance. The Pearly Gates bridge is available in both standard humbucker and Trembucker spacing. Like all our P.A.F.-style humbuckers, every Pearly Gates is wound on Seymour’s original Leesona winding machine from the early Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for that unmistakable vintage mojo.
