Offering a "HOLY GRAIL" of vintage microphones! Sourced from an East Coast owner, this is an original 1930's RCA 77B Ribbon Microphone, with legit 4-sided NBC network flag! (RCA owned the NBC Network and at every opportunity were eager to display the NBC brand on their mics, both in use at both radio and television stations.)
This RCA 77-B (MI-4042) was first introduced in 1937. Only a few were manufactured until it was replaced by the Type 77-B1, then several other 77 variants to follow over the next 2 decades including the final 77DX. What really sets this 77B model off is its elegant, dramatic, black-and-chrome art deco style, becoming thee first of the iconic pill-shaped designs to follow the artillery-shell-shaped monster that was the original Type 77-A. The 77 series has become the universally iconic for classic microphone design recognized throughout the world.
This 77-B has been well taken care of, has all original factory components that test with full-frequency fidelity, super clean and strong output. (A voice sample can be provided upon request.) The external casing appears to have been refreshed in the recent past. No cracks or fractures in the Bakelite casing, with the chrome screens and yoke in beautiful shape, and a nice chromed center ring with bright RCA logo.
The NBC flag is a bone fide original, and crazy rare, with polished aluminum frame and 4 Bakelite NBC inserts...nothing is reproduced. In all the years I have been doing this, this is only the 3rd one I have ever come across. (One of them in in my personal collection, and the other one I resold years ago.) Mic and flag are mounted to a nice heavy-weighted Western Electric desk stand, with a new 2' cable hardwired to a male XLR plug. Any serious vintage microphone collector would be proud to own this RCA/NBC beauty! Overall height is 14.5". ** Always safe secure packaging and fast fair shipping. We offer combined shipping. **
