Lovies Guitars is excited to offer up this 1966 Gibson ES-125 TC Hollowbody Electric Guitar with a Faded Sunburst Finish! The ES-125 TC was launched in 1960 as "a new Florentine cutaway style guitar" at a price of $189.50. The Florentine cutaway "enables the guitarist to play the higher frets with greater ease and speed". It was produced alongside it's Epiphone equivalent model, the Epiphone Sorrento, and the slightly more highly appointed Windsor, which actually preceded the Gibson model, shipping a handful of guitars in 1959. Gibson's Epiphone range was more an attempt to circumvent strict dealership limitations than create especially new products: selling guitars that were Gibsons in all but name.

Gibson first produced the ES-125 in the 1940s, but in the 1950s and 1960s it morphed into numerous variants. The ES-125 TC (T stands for thinline), C stands for cutaway. The ES-125 TC guitars were both 1 3/4" thin, and completely hollow; there was no maple center block, as was the case with some other thinlines of the time, such as the ES-335TD. The body profile resembled that of the ES-175: 16 1/4" x 20 1/4" with the sharp Florentine cutaway. Likewise it had a free-floating rosewood bridge, though with a simpler trapeze style tailpiece. The pickup was a single coil P90, with black bakelite 'dog ear' cover. This guitar is in excellent shape for its age with finish checking, hardware tarnish, pickguard marks, some indents and marks, fret wear on 1st fret and 2 broken case latches, rated at 9/10. Has an upgraded bridge and free of any breaks, cracks or repairs. Included with this guitar is a hard-shell case, a complimentary sample of Fret-Not, our preferred fretboard cleaner, check it out at fretnot.net and a complimentary Cooper Standard Fin guitar pick—our favorite for enhanced control and reduced movement!
