Beautiful Gretsch 6071 Thinline Hollowbody short scale Bass from 1967 with original Gretsch Case. In essence the Bass companion model to the Tennessean and also known as ‘The Monkees Bass’ thanks to the model's close association with model 6073 (from 1968) of Peter Tork of the Monkees.
It is in amazing condition for a 57 years instrument, barely any scratches!
It features a 16” single cutaway, single bound, 2” deep hollow body laminate body with faux F-holes, the Maple neck has a full profile with a dot inlayed Ebony fingerboard and Zero fret. The single Super’tron pickup is controlled by a Master Volume and 3-way tone switch and standby switch. It delivers sweet vintage mid frequencies, upscale bass type tones. Serial number is #5717
Large, sealed-back tuners are original & in perfect working condition. Nut width is 1 5/8" nut width with zero fret, scale lenght is 29 1/2". Neck is straight & truss rod works fine. Bass weighs 8 lbs 1 oz.
Other controls are a lever operated String mute and Standby switch, Electronics and the String mute mechanism (in perfect working order) can be accessed through the back of the instrument underneath the Padded back cover. (see photo) Gold plated Van Ghent tuners, Space Control bridge on wooden foot and G-cut Gretsch tailpiece. Original Gretsch hardshell case included
The pickup and hardware are a superb reminder of the late 60's art déco style
A real gem & a must have for any serious collector at a fair price!
