Up for sale is a RARE! RARE!! RARE!!! Steinberger GL4T-GR guitar with built-in Roland Synth GK-1 Pickup.  The serial number: 5227, it was made in Nov.1987 according to the serial no. database in Steinberger world.  This guitar is already 37 years old but is still in excellent condition, only light scratches and light fret wear could be found. The pickups are EMG-81 and 2 x SA.  It weighs 3.1kg on my digital scale.

This listing will also include an aftermarket 24pins cable, two dust covers for the 24pins sockets, a Plug-in leg rest, an original Steinberger gig bag, tremolo arm and a simple aftermarket 24 to 13pins converter.  Please note that if you connect this guitar to a modern Roland 13pins synth unit (eg. GR-55, VG-99, VG-88) via this simple converter, the CUT knob will serve as the synth volume and the 3-way mini toggle MODE switch will change the patches in the guitar synth, the BAL, EDIT, VIB knobs and the touch plates will not work by design. The MODE switch and the CUT knobs are already sufficient for controlling most modern Roland 13pins synth unit.

The normal guitar (magnetic pickup) output could be heard via the normal guitar out from your synth unit by connecting a lead from the normal guitar output of the steinberger to the guitar input jack in the simple 24 to 13pins converter.

Also included in this listing is a 220-240V Roland GM-70.  It is a 24 pin GR Midi converter and this particular unit was modified to become a 24 to 13-pins converter with the built-in BC-13 circuit.

You can assign and control any parameters in modern Roland 13 pin synth unit (eg. GR-55, VG-99, VG-88) using the control knobs (CV1 CV2 CV4 and MODE switch) on a G-series vintage 24 pins synth guitar (that is the CUT, EDIT, VIB knobs and the mode switch in the Steinberger, the BAL knob will serve as the synth volume).

The way to connect and set these up:

Vintage G-series synth guitar -> 24pins cable ->

[GM-70] || [13pins modern synth unit]

13pins output         -> 13pins input

5pins midi output -> 5pins midi input

after matching the midi channels and set the parameters in both the GM-70 and the modern synth unit, then you are ready to rock.  I will include 2 pages of instructions for you.

I have confirmed that the Steinberger GL4T-GR guitar, the modified Roland GM-70, the simplified 24 to 13pins converter, the 24pins cable are fully functional.  The BAL, CUT, EDIT, VIB knobs and the mode switch in the top panel of the Steinberger are working fine, however, since the GM-70 does not support the touchplates, so I could not reconfirm whether the touchplates are still working, but they were working before I sold my GR-300 about a year ago.  Please don’t buy if you have a concern about this.
