I mean… what can I say. In all my years and the dozens of these I’ve owned, never have I ever seen a cleaner more beautiful RCA44. All inside guts are 100% original as is the outer shell and badges. This mic looks and sounds absolutely sextacular (an apropos adjective for such a grail mic). Reverb fees are now $500 (!!) and Uncle Sam wants another $500 so after all the fees, considering what I’ll make, this mic is priced below what I paid to have it fully restored.

Flawless from head to toe with not a single scratch or flaw to be found anywhere at all. We shot it out against a US44BX, an AEA44CE, a Hand Built 1:1 clone we have here and this Alnico version blew them all away. Serial 115012 putting it in the early 1950’s of manufacturing. The UK‘s Alnico version has long since known for its superiority in it’s modern clarity over the US version, featuring a noticeably tighter low end (not as deep, less low end weight, more detail in mids and highs). It is brighter with more presence in the upper frequencies, less muddy in the midrange and with more overall clarity and a crisper, hotter output. In our shootout we found the UK Version to sound and feel more like a modern AEA44, which as you know, is known to be a perfect clone but also slightly tighter and brighter.

We’ve owned a bunch of 44’s over the last 30 years, mostly US versions because I thought they were “better.” I couldn’t have been more wrong. Never EVER have I seen one dead mint like it was made yesterday. This model also greatly surprised us all when it won our shootout in both vox and as a drum room mic. No rush to sell this one tbh, as I doubt I’ll ever be able to own one in NOS condition again. Not only is it the best looking 44 I’ve ever seen, it’s by far the best sounding one I’ve ever heard too. All original except new ribbon, paint, chrome, grill cloth and pigtail too! See pics for details.

I also have some beat up ones for sale for half this price if money is your #1 concern. This one will sell firm at listed price. Once in a lifetime opp to own a film prop, dead mint 44 in like new condition. I rent mics to local NYC/NJ films (check out the Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown” December 2024, all mics and outboard were from my company) So this was purchased as a prop at first, not knowing how good it would sound.

Not much to say about it other than it is definitely the cleanest specimen available on earth. Not a scratch or pit to speak of. Even the original RCA badges are near mint.

  • New ribbon
  • New pigtail
  • New chrome on steel yoke w new rubber gaskets and hardware
  • Original yoke threading hardware
  • Original grill
  • New grill cloth
  • New Rean XLR-M connector
  • New bottom plate

Basically it’s brand new, old stock. Magnet is as strong as the day it was made. Absolutely incredible and unicorn rare aesthetic status of arguably the greatest long ribbon mic ever made. Any questions please ask.
