1982 Fender A-115 PJ Bass/ Fujigen/ Made in Japan/ New Nordstrand Pickups/ New Hi Mass Bridge

1982 Fender A-115 PJ MIJ Fujigen. This bass is made of Alder with a Maple neck and a beautiful Rosewood fingerboard. It has brand-new Nordstrand NJ4-SE and NP4 pickups along with a brand-new Fender HiMass Bridge. New Fender neck plate and neck bolts have been installed (40+ years of metal fatigue is real). The fret side-dots were replaced in the 80’s with jumbo dots to accommodate dark stages. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is in perfect shape and functions as it should. The fingerboard has been de-funked and sanitized for the next owner’s comfort. The finish on the back of the neck has completely worn off and has been waxed (silky smooth and fast). The action is very low, and the frets have near-zero wear as it had a fret job in 2023. The neck joint is superlative and tight. The nut shows no wear. The electronics have been replaced with fresh Fender CTS 250K pots and a 0.47 farad capacitor. The original 3 position switch remains for looks, but is not wired up as it is a bit of an anachronism given how nice these pickups are. The original knobs and Switchcraft jack remain. This bass sounds awesome; and certainly, much better than most. It has a very aggressive bridge sound thanks to the NJ4-SE (my favorite J pickup). The neck pickup sound is one of the best P sounds I have heard. It has a very strong output. The pickup cavities and the control cavity, both have 4 coats of RFX Radio Opaque cavity lining treatment. The cavity cover is backed with copper and the entire circuit is made with oxygen-free, 20-guage, Softflex wire. The bass is absolutely silent. I have rated this bass as “good” only because it is vintage, and the finish is quite rough in the horns and along the edges. There are, however, no chips, dings, or scratches. It is no beauty queen. But it is a real, living relic and has been extremely well taken care of.

          The bass comes with it’s original Fender molded hard-shell case. It’s not pretty but it was super well-built. All the latches work, and the handle is strong. It comes strung with med-light Ernie Ball Slinkys. This one will be hard to let go of. Please ask any questions. I can send extra photos if you like.
