Hi, I decided to build a relic 50's Telecaster because I could not afford to spend 4 thousand plus on a Fender Custom Shop model. I tried to use the best possible Fender components from both the MIM and USA factories. Here is what's in her: The Telecaster body is an American Special in Alder. It has been re-finished in vintage white nitro cellulose lacquer and cryogenically treated and aged to simulate years of lacquer checking, dings and wear. I chose the vintage white color as I was opting for something different besides the normal school bus yellow that most Tele's are done in. The neck is a maple MIM 50's, soft "V" profile shot in nitro, with a bone nut, and the neck has been heavily aged as well. The 50's pickups are from the Fender Custom Shop and are "hand-wound" by LD, (Loretta Diaz). The capacitor is a Fender branded "phone book style" model, and aged slotted screws were used throughout the build. The pickguard is also from the Custom Shop and is done in an aged "Bakelite". One important thing I should mention is, the flash on my camera made a lot of the pics way too white looking.....there is a close up shot near the control switch that shows the true color which is a soft butter hue. All of the hardware and plastics were heavily aged as well to compliment the body and neck. One of the coolest things of this build is the thermometer case! It is pretty old, and not from China like the ones Fender uses now. You can see by the old Cheney latches that were used on it, that it is one of the earlier ones. The case has a bunch of vintage hotel decals on it and the whole case has a heavy, aged, nitro lacquer finish over it. It looks like it belonged to some old bluesman or country crooner who might have decorated it to preserve fond memories of past played venues from long ago. A whole lot of sweat equity and top-notch Fender parts went into this build, and I believe I captured the "Custom Shop" look, tone and feel faithfully for a fraction of the price. She only weighs in at 7-1/2 lbs. on my postal scale, so fairly lightweight as far as Tele's go. PS, I can only ship to the continental US. Thank you for checking her out.
