I have a pair of Polk Audio RTA-12 floor standing speakers. These are in excellent condition overall, but could use new top “socks”, as I’m not great at sewing😁. Sonically, they are perfect, with an amazing soundstage, and excellent imaging.
These speakers are a two-way design, utilizing a 1-inch silk-dome, silver-coil tweeter, and a pair of 6.5-inch mid-woofers in each speaker. Each speaker also has a “fluid-coupled” 12-inch passive radiator, to produce an amazing amount of bass. These were originally produced from 1982 through 1984, at which time they were replaced by the RTA-12b speakers. They were an innovative design at the time, and were highly desirable for those with the means to get them.
I’ve owned this pair for about ten years, and they’ve never been abused. I drove them with my Carver MXR-150, but have also used them with a low-powered SET tube amplifier. They sing loud and clear with whatever amplifier I've used.
These are 34-inches tall, by 16-inches wide, by 12-inches deep, and weigh approximately 85 pounds each. Due to their size and weight, I will not ship these, as they would need to be crated or on a pallet. Pick up in Pembroke, MA, and can be demoed at time of pick up. As these speakers are over 40 years old, they are being sold as is with no returns.
See my other listings for the Carver MXR-150 that I used with these speakers.
