Reynolds Contempora (Larry Minick Custom) Bass Trombone

In a world flooded by technological advancements and obsessions with the 'latest and greatest' thing on the market, its easy to overlook some of the steps musical instruments have taken to get to where they are now. One of the leading innovators to help influence the brass world is a gentleman by the name of Larry Minick. Minick was an LA based brass technician who was known for his alterations on pre existing trombones. From his unique 'open wrap' tuning slide changes and even some interchangeable leadpipes, this horn is one the last remnants of Minick's work.

The Reynolds Contempora is a beast of a bass trombone! From its 10" bronze bell, larger than standard .565" bore hand slide, and independent rotor system. This bass would be a great pick for pit work and big band set ups. The pairing of the bronze bell with the slightly larger bore makes the sound of this instrument POP! This bass trombone would best be played in big band and pit settings. A set up of this kind might not be the best for the younger or amateur bass trombonist.

This pre owned Reynolds contempora has lost most of its lacquer and has recently been serviced in our in house repair shop. Slide moves with ease and the rotors activate smoothly.
