I just got a mess of projects back from Max's mad laboratory, one of them being my 2×6×9 5F1 Champ Amplifier. He worked his circuitry wizardry on this one, and did a bang-up job using vintage components where possible. A beautiful Vintage Stancor single-ended power transformer feeds a classic Grayplate RCA 6V6GT, while an RCA 12AY7 gives a good volume dial range before getting crunchy.

Max did his normal/hot channel mod on this amp, just like the last 5F1 build we did. You can switch back and forth between channels by physically switching your input channel,or you can plug into channel 1 and run a single button footswitch from channel 2 input, allowing you to use the footpedal to change channel. That is a builder specific mod, which you won't find anywhere else.... yet.

I've used vintage hardware wherever possible, including old Oxblood grill cloth and even a 100% genuine Victoria Luggage Co. leather handle, which is exactly what came on the original Champ Amps.
