Here we have a Fender Black Dove Telecaster Deluxe!
For me, it's kind of a perfect instrument - Tele body? Check. 2 P-90s? Check. Fender Tele scale-length? Check. However, I'm simply not using it as much as it should and I don't buy instruments to collect them - I buy them to play them!
Now, here's what we've got with this particular one:
- Small nicks and dings on the body. This was apparently bumped into by someone and fell off of a stand at one point, but otherwise the body is in good shape.
- The pickup selector switch sometimes gets loose. Apparently this is a thing with these Black Dove models, but you could totally just replace the switch and call it a day.
- Most importantly, this thing needs a set up and some fret work. The guitar plays well, but when I got it, it was clear it shifted climates a few times and there's some overhang of the frets on both sides of the neck. Honestly, it doesn't bug me, but that's something you'll want to address.
- The high E-string tuner sometimes feels a little "tight" - not sure what that's about, but I'm sure it just needs a hit of grease and then you'll be good to go. Once again, something that should get checked out when you give this thing a setup.
While it requires a bit of work, it's a great sounding guitar and looks fantastic. I wouldn't be selling it if I didn't have to, but my loss is your gain. These are harder to come by these days, so if you don't mind putting in a little bit of work, you'll be getting a great deal on a fabulous instrument!
