1992 Alvarez Yairi DY98 Modulus Graphite neck with the original hardshell case in good condition. It has the lrbaggs lyric acoustic/electric pickup system which is unhooked and currently not in use.
I had the soundhole pickup installed by Baxendale Guitars in Athens GA. There is a new hole installed where the strap pin was. Everything else on this guitar is original. It’s been mine since 1996. It was given to me by the original owner who had arthritis and no longer played. He liked me and I was a lucky kid to inherit such a great guitar.
It’s spent it’s life with me and has been taken care of and serviced by the highly skilled luthiers at Baxendale Guitars yearly.
Ask questions and make an offer. I’ve loved this guitar and it’s time for someone else to love it. I’m buying my dream home and making sacrifices. I’d love to see someone take this guitar for another 20 years of songwriting and performances
Here’s a little info about this beauty
This guitar was made by Modulus Guitars San Rafael, CA then shipped to K. Yairi Guitars Gifu, Japan where the body was handmade and joined to the Modulus graphite neck. These guitars were then shipped to the states by St louis music under the Alvarez Yairi name. These guitars were played by Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead(he had a signature model Gy1 but never played a Gy1 he played the DY98 and DY99)
Only one of Jerry's actual guitars has surfaced. A 1991 custom DY98 Jerry gave to Ramrod(Grateful Dead roady) that was auctioned off for 102k at Bonham and Butterfields in San Francisco(2006) when Ramrod died. The Dy98 is an extremely rare and hard to find guitar highly valued among collectors.
