1983 Gibson SG Special

History: I have owned this guitar since about 1993, purchased from a friend. It has been gently played since being in my possession and honestly not played much at all. It was in a punk band before it came to me, but I have not played out with it or ever gigged it. Smoke free environment. The serial number is stamped from 1983 - #81463541. Electronics all appear original including humbucking pick-ups (Tim Shaw maybe?). I am not an expert and have not had it professional evaluated to know all the details. It did not come with a case, so one is not included in the sale.

Maintenance: This was recently professionally set up in preparation for sale (11/6/17). All electronics work perfectly for a great 80’s Gibson tone. No evidence of any repairs or breaks.

Modifications: The body is a solid 3 piece, refin’d to a pretty cool looking natural finish (not by me). Only holes drilled are for the added non-original pickguard. All else appears original.

Cosmetics: Noticeable buckle rash, scrapes, dings, and chipping here and there. There are finish chips along the neck (see pics), but the neck remains pretty smooth. Also some finish chips near the tuners. Chips, dings and evident wear on the bottom of the body.

Play: Play is great. Low action with no buzz. Minor wear on frets.

These early 80’s 3-knob SG Specials are fairly rare, so this will be a nice addition for SG enthusiasts. Will ship domestically and professionally with insurance. Sorry no international shipping available.
