Squier Katana 1988 Black

Sorry, this listing is no longer available.

When it comes to near-vintage 1980's instruments, some are weird...some are cool...and some are wicked cool. This rare 1980's Finder Squier Katana bass is wicked cool, and a great player too. Don't you forget about it...read on.

The Katana was created during the 1980's when Fender was trying to get a little hipper to compete with innovations from other guitar makers. It looks, quite simply, like nothing else out there. The Katana is amazingly light, weighing in at just seven pounds. And it plays as well as any MIJ Fender of the period, with a thin neck profile and a clean, assertive sound. This all adds up to make it a great, unique gigging bass - perfect for an 80's cover band, or for anyone who's hungry like the wolf and wants to blind someone with science instead of fading back into the rhythm section.

Although it's a Squier, the serial number confirms that it was made at the Fujigen plant in Japan, which built the best MIJ Fenders, Ibanezes, and more.  A date inside the neck pocket confirms that it was made on July 16, 1988. The Katana has one P-bass style pickup for a classic Fender sound.

It has a number of dings in the paint, amply shown in the photos, especially on the sharp points. Definitely not mint condition, but highly playable with near-vintage charm.

It comes with the original case, covered with plenty of period stickers - Dean Markley, aliens, Megadeth, and more.

Everybody wants to rule the world. With this Katana bass, you can!
