Designed with Hamer by Andy Summers of the Police, this is an original 1984-1985 Phantom A5 with 3-on-tree head stock. Solid mahogany body with original electronics, tuners and bridge. Original DiMarzio single coil pickups in neck and middle position. Bridge pickup is a replacement Rio Grande Fat Bastard with clear defined tone and high output. Finish has wear expected for age with dings and scratches. For awhile a Bartolini humbucker was installed in the neck position requiring custom routing and some finish damage. A hole for that pickup's coil splitter selection is still present. A DPDT switch is installed in that hole but it is not connected to anything today. The original plastic nut was replaced with a bone nut for better playability. Over time this mod caused some finish damage.

This guitar is as playable as the day I bought it new from Spitzer Music, San Francisco 1985. It is a beautiful instrument with an unusually clear bright tone. The only drawbacks with this guitar are cosmetic. It is gig ready and will be a standout instrument visually and sonically in a live setting.
