We give this little amp a BIG stamp of approval! Blendable American / AC amp voicings and an uncomplicated-yet-robust EQ section are just the start. This amp delivers a gorgeously lush tube-driven spring reverb and a one-of-a-kind treble damping circuit that cushions or compresses the high end when needed. Subtle and fully user adjustable, this is a great way to improve your in-ear experience or take a touch of top end off of bright single coils without losing spank and presence.

Back to the voicing options… on the American side, the amp has an unmistakable ’65 Blackface quality… thick and warm with characteristic rounded upper mids. This voicing sounds fantastic with the guitar straight into the amp, but it is also a perfect pedal platform. The AC side pushes out that signature chimey top end and shifts the mid focus downward.

Despite the “clean” in the name, the American side of the amp can exude a nice breakup in the upper ranges of the volume knob. The AC side goes further, with the ability to turn that chime into a grind. And the Top Boost switch is ready at your disposal to kick the AC voicing up another notch.

But it’s not all-or-nothing. The magic is in the voicing pan pot, which allows you to choose the ratio of American to AC voicing to find your perfect balance. We’ll let you in on one of our favorite uses of the blend pot. Try starting on the American side but blending in a bit of the AC side to “tighten up” humbucking pickups to perfection.

Possibly the most important feature of all, the Hybrid Master is truly the most effective solution to master volume or power scaling that we have encountered on any amp. You can run the amp at conversational levels with no problem at all. Mic’d up, it sounds and FEELS big through your in-ears or studio monitors without any of the loss of tone or sustain a quiet tube amp usually falls prey to. We can tell you from experience, this amp makes for a happy live sound engineer AND a happy guitar player.
