Hey Texas, I enjoy building custom solid body 'Parts-Caster' guitars for folks with personality and creative musicians. My latest project is my 'Longhorn Road-Warrior', built out of a 'Southern Yellow Pine' body, installed with a bonded 'Set-in' Epoxy/Gorilla-Glue, 25.5" Tone Scale neck (that's why I call it 'Licensed & Bonded'), it's a Solid Canadian 'Chubby-C' Maple 22 Fret-board Neck, with Mid-Jumbo Stainless frets. It has wonderful 'Resonance and Sustaining' warm qualities-built into this unit. I've incorporated a set of Special Tele' style of pairs of (Resistance:9.74K (Neck); 6.59K (Bridge) pickups, for its some funky 'Honky-Tonk' sound. I also switched out the single-coil (5.4K) neck pickup, for a really 'Hot Dual-Rail pickup to boost the output from the updated electronics... If you really love doing some 'Texan-Shufflin' for the folks, this is the one you want. The body has a couple of 'Lungs' channeled-out under the license plate pickguard, that gives it a slight 'Resonance' sound, something like a 'Dobro' quality, country style tone. There's no other Tele' out there that sounds exactly like mine.

Just read down half through these articles, Fender is going with pine for their standard solid body material... Are there any other woods that could match the visual and tonal qualities of ash?

This unit looks 50 years old coming right 'Out of the Gates' and is a true 'Show-Stopper' collectable electric guitar, all by itself, it's a real 'Brand-New Antique Relic'!
