This rare, original Vib-Rola tailpiece was invented by C.O. "Doc" Kauffman back in the 1930s. It was favored by Les Paul and many others prior to the development of the Paul Bigsby units. Kauffman was an inventor and held many music-related patents, and was Leo Fender's partner in the "K&F" company at the end of WWII. These units with the short hinge were featured on 1950s Rickenbacker guitars, and It's rare to find one intact and in working order..many we're replaced later with "R" tailpiece or the "Accent by Paul" vibrato units.
