This is a Carson J. Robison guitar from 1936, I think, named for the popular country singer/songwriter of the time. Made for Montgomery Wards by Gibson in Kalamazoo, it's one of many private-label instruments Gibson produced in the depression era. Based on a Kalamazoo KG-11 or Gibson L-00 it's ladder-braced, spruce and mahogany, bound top, 24 3/4″ scale length, 1 3/4″ nut, V-shape neck profile, firestripe pick guard, rosewood bridge/board.
All original (the vintage tuners are mismatched) with a recent neck-reset by Michael Hauver in Shepherdstown, WV, medium fret wear, some fretboard divots, play wear on the neck, no other repairs or issues. Weighs 3lbs.-1oz. Modern hard case.
It's easy to play and has the sound you expect from these quality catalog guitars of the time. Great for finger-style or old-time backup.
Used items are sold "as pictured." My descriptions of age, condition, specifications, materials and provenance are my best assessments of an item, or they come from the manufacturers' original product descriptions. In addition, vintage instruments might show the typical wear and tear from years of being played and gigged. I do my best to identify any significant flaws, repairs or other issues, and I'm happy to answer your questions and send you additional photos. But "what you see is what you get." Thanks.
