Engelhardt M3 1/4 size laminated upright bass USA 1991 with bag

Engelhardt M3 1/4 size plywood upright bass, made in USA 1991, serial #53967.

Purchased on *bay January 2020, drove to Connecticut to get it.

Shown next to 4/4 cello for size comparison.

NOTE: Metal strings on bass in first pic is what you get (these came on it). Synthetics not included, needed for another project.

NOTE: These strings are not 1/4 size, metal turns on tuning pegs (see pic).

Bass is in great shape, appears the only abuse it had was neglect. I think he said it was in a room at a school he assumed to be original owner (making me the third).

Only home use by me, smoke/pet-free environment.

Bridge was on backwards, too high up the belly and stuck to it.

Some finish came off removing it.

Was warped (still is), steamed it out and got some use out of it.

Tip of treble side wing snapped off messing with positioning.

Ordered two 1/4 size adjustable bridges as shown from music store in Texas. Said to be good quality/new old stock. Metal adjusters.

The end pin (original) rattles unless extended. I rigged some cane tips to pieces of bamboo that work for sitting, saw online that a drumstick can work (they are hardwood).

A few dings/scratches/edge wear but remarkably unscathed for its age considering there wasn't any case.

No sign of any cracks, stress, or repair work.

I didn't mess with the sound post, should be looked at.

Comes with new nicely padded TKL gig bag with heavy duty zipper, plenty of pockets and handles.

The tailpiece extended way past the end of the body, distorting and stretching the gig bag.

I shortened it to prevent ripping (see pic).

A piece of the string support on the tailpiece broke off (see pic), I saved it.

MEET/PICKUP: Real easy, immediately off exit 11 on NH 101. Address: 141 Portsmouth Ave, Exeter, NH (Hannaford Grocery parking lot).

NOTE: Exit 11 is under 10 minutes from the NH 95 toll booth.

Alternatively (foul weather/etc) my apartment is 1 mile from there.
