NOIZ CHAR is a noise fuzz/noise source.
With NOIZ at 0%, the input signal alone is sent through a germanium diode fuzz circuit.
Adjusting NOIZ to 100% introduces the noise generator circuit into the fuzz circuit which adds texture, dust and gurgle to the fuzzed output signal.
CHAR(acter) adjusts the noise signal up and down at the base of the transistor which amplifies the transistor+zener noise. this creates different noise textures and intensities of noise:
0%-50%: soft hiss to rain
50%: full intensity noise
50%-100%: dusty, crackly to soft hiss
