Here is an early '80s Ludwig 15"x12" marching snare in White Marine Pearl wrap. As far as I can tell this drums is original except for a few tension rods.
The Good:
This drum hasn't been modified and it is in great playable condition. All original hardware (except for internal muffler) is present and functional. Ludwig p-85 strainer is slightly bent but still works without issue. Bearing edges are in great condition. This drum tunes high and low nicely and sounds fantastic. Shell is rock-solid 6 ply Ludwig maple. No warping or damage to shell.
The Not So Good:
Hardware including rims, tension rods and lugs have scratching, pitting and some rust. Most of the chrome should still polish up nicely. Bottom rim is not in good condition. Much of the chrome has been scrapped off. Internal muffler is missing. The badge has lifting and bending. Will need to be glued or reset.
The white marine pearl wrap has separation, pealing and damage from where it was (unfortunately) factory rivited to the shell. There is also splitting of the wrap throughout, most notably right under the badge (where school affiliation was partly scratched out), as well as other scratches, yellowing and residue. Some panels of the drum look better than others.
---
Overall, this drum would be perfect for a Snare/Tom or a floor tom conversion. Will work well with the Ludwig atlas mounting brackets/lugs. It also tunes well in either range. Add this to a set of White Marine Pearl drums or would be a perfect candidate for a rewrap.
Comes with used Remo clear controlled sound black dot batter head, Remo clear ambassador snare side, Ludwig p-85 strainer and butt plate, decent 15" snares and 16 Ludwig large classic lugs.
