Selling a 2004 Gibson SG Faded in worn Brown color, Left Handed.

Original Gibson 490 T/R pickups installed, with their natural aged appearance.

The guitar is a left handed Gibson SG Faded 2004 model that has the rosewood fingerboard and a good, rounded neck. The neck is not Slim Taper thin, but not 59 LP thick either.

The guitar is in ‘good’' shape according to how I would describe it. I had to replace the volume and tone pot on the bridge pickup because they didn‘t work correctly. I also replaced the cap with an orange drop cap. So I fixed all that. The electronics are 100% functional and has no buzzing or sound drop outs.

The cosmetics on the guitar would be classified as “used”. Clearly, someone used the heck out of it. It’s got all kinda of dents, scratches and marks on it. The worst of the marks are on the neck heel and near the head stock (see pics). The one by the head stock you can feel if you extended your finger there. I don’t necessarily play like that but if you do, you’ll feel it. There are no other functional issues with regards to the cosmetics - the guitar neck structure is solid and there’s no cracks or breaks, and no structure repairs of any kind.

I replaced the knobs with aged silver insert top hats and added the knob pointers.

The original Gibson 490 pickups are installed. They sound really good and have a good PAF type tone. Alnico II magnets give them a beefy round tone while modern wiring add a touch of mid and high end to help cut through the mix. Output in the bridge is 8.2 and 7.9 for the neck (k ohm).

In my opinion these pickups are great PAF types. There’s a reason Gibson used them in dozens of guitars, shipping millions of these pickups.

The bridge looks to have been replaced with something that has GraphTech saddles. The tuning machines are not original either and have been replaced with locking Grovers. You’ll notice one of which seems to have been installed slightly off-center.

I didn’t do anything else to the guitar after I got it. It has a fresh set of generic 10-46 strings with moderate-low action. The frets are in good shape and I didn’t notice anything terribly out of alignment with them. The fret ends are ok and there’s no need for a fret job. A lot of these guitar came from the factory with a need for fret end dressing. This guitar seems ok in that regard.

The guitar comes with a brand new, aftermarket high quality Gator Hard Case.

This is definitely a used guitar that has lots of ‘character’ and natural relic.

Please inspect the pictures. I’ve tried to document as well as possible but understand that the guitar will have other imperfections that I may have missed. The sale includes the guitar and the new Gator TSA SG Case. I’ve included a Levi leathers strap. No other accessories included.

Shipping is FREE to the lower 48, with packing and insurance. Signature is required for delivery so please make arrangements.

The guitar is sold as-is, no returns. Please bid accordingly. The guitar is setup nicely at my house but the buyer is responsible for any additional adjustments or setup once received.
