For sale is a beautiful Zager ZAD-80 CD OM Acoustic guitar, along with many accessories. This was my goto guitar for music jams at home, and for several recording projects. This is the OM (“Orchestral Model”) model of the ZAD-80, which is about 15% smaller than the regular size. This makes it comfortable and easy to play for long periods. The acoustic sound is big and full, but the sound when amplified is amazing.

The ZAD-80 CD OM uses the Fishman Aura Pro system, so you not only have the great piezo under saddle pickup, you also have the Fishman Aura system which uses “images” to simulate the tonal characteristics of different acoustic guitars. This allows you to move past the typical sound of a piezo pickup to output a new acoustic tone that is closer to what your guitar would sound like if you used a microphone. I found blending the two - the brightness of the piezo with the full sound of the aura system - produced an acoustic sound that was beautiful and cut through the mix during jam sessions.

Like all guitars that have been around for a bit, this guitar has several bumps and dents on the guitar. You have to look really hard to see them, and they are difficult to photograph. However, I’ve done my best to capture the dents and dings where I’ve found them.

Also, recently it was pointed out that the plastic sides of bezel on the Fishman Aura system are broken. The Fishman Aura system was this way when I originally got the Zager ZAD80, so I assumed that this was the way it was supposed to be. You can change battieres and upload profies to the system, so I didn't pay any attention to it.. Now that I've checked the photos on the Zager site, it looks like the side plastic has cracked on both sides. This doesn't affect the sound or the functionality of the guitar at all - I guess the original owner broke it and I just never noticed. The replacement part for this is available through Fishman for $4.95 ()

Because this is not a “mint” guitar and because of the breaks in the Aura casing, I’ve discounted the price accordingly. Ultimately, this is an ideal package for the guitar player that has moved beyond their starter guitar, and is looking for a more professional guitar.
