Welcome to another fine guitar from The Old Europe! Please make sure to read the entire description below carefully, and look at all the pictures.

General introduction and background:

Super rare Sakai Mokko made one pickup guitar. Likely made around 1969-1970ish. Usually, these early Mosrite-style Sakai models feature a pickup looking like a P90 in a metal housing (it’s not a P90 though), but this one has a pickup in a plastic housing which on the inside is likely a goldfoil type construction. It is the only specimen of this type that I have ever seen.

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-Scale:  628 mm

-Nut: ca 41,5 mm

-Weight: 2,36 kg

-Pickups: one singlecoil, goldfoil construction, measuring exactly 5k, controlled with a volume and tone poti.

-Body: plywood layers.

-Neck: slim D or C-shaped neck, rounded fretboard (7,25’’). Neck is probably some exotic mahogany style wood, the fretboard probably a rosewood veneer. The frets are small, narrow and low.

Condition:

-Body: The body is in excellent condition with only a few dings and dongs.

-Neck: neck is straight, trussrod works. The frets are in good shape with no crevasses. There are some slightly buzzy areas.

-Hardware: in good shape

-Electrics: everything works as it should

-Originality: all original as far as I can tell

Sound and Playability:

-Playability and string action: The typical “decent” to good playability of these Sakai cheapo models – if you know what you are up to, you can enjoy and play a lot of if not anything on it. 1,8 mm string action at 12th fret dialed in.

-Sound: It has a very acoustic-kind of sound, very wiry, and is probably ideal for strumming indie-style chords. Or play slide? Please listen to the video for a sound demo.

Repairs, Service:

As always, the instrument has been serviced completely and is ready to be played immediately.

-Frets polished and fretboard cleaned and oiled

-New set of Pyramid 10 gauge strings put on

-Ready to be played (just tune it up);
