VERY RARE 1920s Richter Soprano Ukulele. Set up to play!

I got this old Richter from an estate sale, so I know very little about its history, but I do know that it sounds fantastic! There aren't any Richter markings on it, but based on the build/design/hardware, I can be pretty certain who made it.

Richter made these ukes in Chicago (AFAIK all of them are all-birch) during the ukulele boom an up until the war, and I see one pop up every once in a while. I have seen photos of a couple similar deco/burst/pearloid models that date to the 20s, so that's where I would put this.

Super cool looking little soprano...slightly under 14" not-to saddle...and just a beautiful tone. Overall, it has retained nice condition. There is a crack in the back (pictured) with no separation, and the braces are solid, so I would not recommend repair...just don't let it get thirsty.

As far as repairs, I had to do a couple things to get it into modern playing shape. Bored out the headstock about 1/64 to accommodate modern tension tuners. Sanded the C notch a bit to accept the appropriate gauge string. And that's about it! Plays really well, intonates exceptionally well, and frets are all good. You'll notice ne 12th fret on this...from what I've seen, they either never had a 12th fret, or there was a design flaw that caused all the surviving exmples to lose the 12th fret.

Anyway, pretty amazing bright, but haunted, but bright tone, and stunning looks. I wouldn't beat it up, but it is definitely ready for its second century!
