Gibson USA 1987 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty. The guitar does have a Kahler tremolo with locking nut installed, but I am not 100% sure if this was a factory install or not, and some routing had to be done to the guitar top to install the Kahler. I do know and recall that Gibson fairly often factory installed the Kahler tremolos, as an option during the 1980's on many of their solid body electric guitars. At some point the Kahler Tremolo on Gibson Guitars evolved into the "Gibson" Branded Kahler Tremolo, probably under license from Kahler I don't know 100% about this for sure though. The Gibson version of the Kahler tremolo basically looked about the same as the actual  Kahler Branded Tremolo, the Tremolo on this LP Custom is the actual Kahler Tremolo though. I had the local pro guitar tech install a pair of vintage early 80's era Bill Lawrence Pickups, I used to hear a few other guitar players I knew talking with reverence about these hot new curved "railroad track" humbucker pickups back in early 80's era. These vintage BL pickups my best guess are derived from the early BL  L 90 twin blade pickups, and are I believe from the early 1980's about 1980-81 maybe 1982, which is the year when I first came across a pair of these BL curved "railroad track" pickups installed in a 1972 LP Custom I bought/traded for back then, which was incidentally the exact same black color as this 1987 LP Custom. My band mates in that 1982-83 era including my passed on brother- who was our drummer, told me with I suppose looking back now, what was constructive criticism, that the 72 LP Custom I owned at the time then, was the only guitar I played that ever made me sound like an actual guitarist lol.  For what its worth IMO- even though the LP is a single cutaway, there is no better solid body electric guitar ever made anywhere, any era than the Gibson Les Pauls. This specific set of BL pickups are I believe the later L 500 blade pickups, of which by the mid 80's era I do not believe the BL L-500 still had the curved blades anymore. These L-500 BL pickups in this LP Custom are definitely the earlier vintage curved "railroad track" twin blade BL pickups. These vintage Bill Lawrence L-500 pickups sound great with the rails providing better output than normal pole pieces on this 87 Custom Les Paul. The guitar has some dents and dings, and signs of use on the guitar nothing too major though, except with one obvious small area of bare wood with some minor paint loss on the back of the neck that is pictured. The vintage 80's LP Custom guitar does has some pretty obvious scuffs/scratches on the top and backside, and a couple small paint scrapes and some finish cracking/crazing here and there.  This LP Custom guitar is in pretty good to more accurate IMO very good described condition it has been gently used-- not abused, and this has been a players guitar with some obvious signs of past usage on it. The gold hardware including the Kahler has some faded luster and minor finish wear to it. The guitar has some very minimal belt buckle rash this is very slight though, and overall this is again a good-- considering Reverb’s scarce choices of description categories to better described decent very nice condition Custom Les Paul considering this guitar is a 30+ year old guitar. The set neck is straight no bowing or warp and this guitar has a ebony fretboard with the LP Custom mother of pearl block inlays, 22 frets in very nice shape 90-95% life left. This vintage 87 LP Custom guitar was setup by a local guitar tech who is also a GIT Graduate with GHS  Boomers strings .010-.046, and plays fast and easy with low action and proper intonation set with strobe tuner. The tuners are Grovers and the LP Custom has beautiful creamy white pinstriped binding on the neck/headstock and body of the guitar. There is no issues with the electronics and I will include the original pickups from the guitar, in the same matching gold finish as the rest of the hardware on this guitar. This LP Custom has the lame late 70’s/early 80's molded plastic "chainsaw" HSC, with the not so good at staying shut latches but it is in very good condition. This guitar will be well packed with bubble wrap and or packing paper around the headstock and elsewhere as needed, and shipped FedEx Ground in a sturdy U-line guitar shipping box with additional pack materials. This vintage Les Paul Custom guitar will be insured for the declared value signature delivery required by Fed Ex. Shipping costs is a bit more because of the insurance needed for the higher declared value on this bad ass vintage 80's LP Custom.
