This is a well built, handmade guitar from the 1920’s. Constructed entirely of mature mahogany which has benefited additionally from ~100 years of aging contributing to the instrument’s individual character and tone. All parts of the guitar are solid, the wood used being relatively thick contributing further to the feeling of stability. The top is adorned with a hand painted scene of the son shining over a tropical landscape. There is some checking in the paint which can be clearly seen in the photos. A detail that brings to the piece character and authenticity as well a sense of connection to the artisan. There is a split in the top below the bridge as seen which has stabilized and does not appear to compromise the structure. The action is somewhat high though the guitar holds tune and is readily playable with nylon strings as shown.
