1920s The Bacon Style C... Made in Groton, Connecticut!
Yup, Groton, Connecticut! I have never seen a finer example!
A wicked sweet early 1920s Bacon Style C tenor banjo serial number 20896 probably dates this banjo to 1927. The rim is natural maple and is in outstanding condition. I have never seen a better one!
The tuning pegs are the originals with ivoroid buttons. Beautiful! 24 hooks keep this new Remo 11" head nice and tight. The neck is one piece of mahogany while the rim is made from layers of mahogany with flamed/curly wood on its interior and exterior sides. The neck is straight with good frets – showing very little fretboard wear. Pearl dots in the fretboard. The neck is straight and this plays like a dream. Tone is crisp, clear, and quite loud. Because it lacks a steel (or otherwise) tonering it doesn't have the overwhelming amount of overtones that tend to need to be muted out on other openback tenor banjos.
Very good condition and in the original hard case.
Check out the pics... because they don't lie. Like always! The condition is, well, check out the pics!
Shipping quoted is to you in the CONUS, as always... includes the original hard shell case in fair condition but fully functional.
Hey make me an offer... I just might take it. Ya never know!
