About This Listing

**RARE** chance to own an Emmons Original 12-string push-pull pedal steel guitar! This model is known as a cut tail.

1980 (ish) Emmons push pull SD12 (**RARE!!! 7x4) cut tail from the Emmons factory in Burlington, North Carolina. In great player condition, stays in tune incredibly and has major sustain and great tone. Had a check-up/setup 2 years ago and is working beautifully. Original black formica finish. Comes with Emmons hard case, legs/rods/leg bag.

SETUP: Emmons/Jeff Newman setup. This is the Jeffran College "E9/B6 Universal Tuning", as the accompanying Jeffran instructional book details:

PEDALS: 7 pedals, including Emmons setup on pedals ABC, and with these B6 pedals:
4 = boowah pedal

5 = standard pedal 5

6 = standard pedal 6

7 = standard pedal 7

KNEES: 4 knees including split Es. Similar to Overbey's knee setup (Jeff's Texas/MSA influence).

LKL = E to F raise 4&8

LKV = string 5 lower (half). this acts as a typical C6 string 3 lower, in B6 mode (Es lowered)

RKR = E to Eb lower 4&8

RKL = string 2 lower (half), and string 9 raise (1.5 steps).

FUNCTIONS: Electronics work great, pickup sounds good. Pedal action is typical for push-pulls, and everything about the undercarriage/changer functions properly/as it should. All parts seem original.

ISSUES: some of the metal corners show wear on the metal surface face (end plates) that I haven't spent time buffing or polishing heavily. Bit of nicotine residue from the Reagan era on the undercarriage. Pedal rack has an incomplete etching-styled artwork throughout.

**This is not a "hacked-up guitar", as there is no 2nd neck hole for a changer, and the black flocking underneath is original, and unblemished. It is serial number "1xx 12 ST" which Jack Strayhorn (Emmons builder in the 80s and 90s) has confirmed was Ron Lashley's own production code (ST, not 'SD') for a factory single-neck steel guitar built on a double-neck cabinet (for 10 and 12 string guitars).**
