The Rick Turner Renaissance RS6 with Ash over Mahogany is a lightweight stage acoustic guitar handmade in Santa Cruz, California by Rick Turner (around 5 lbs!). These guitars reproduce full frequency acoustic tone for recording and performing. The thinline body is built like a fine acoustic guitar, but with an added Cedar center block to cut feedback. A Turner Timberline piezo bridge pickup feeds full spectrum signals to an 18v D-TAR Wavelength preamp. Constructed like true acoustic instruments, with bent sides and a braced tone wood top and back, the Renaissance series truly represents the best way to achieve acoustic tone plugged in.
Purchased new from the lovely gents at Heartbreaker Guitars in Las Vegas (enjoy the video of Jace demo-ing the guitar) and sounds amazing! Owned for only a few months before love for Rick Turner guitars has convinced us to pursue a custom RS6 and just don't need two in the guitar stable (want and need are two different things, my wife says).
Ash wood is possibly going to be hard to come by in the future due to the endangerment of the trees and gosh, is this a beauty!! Paired with an Ipe (also known as Brazilian walnut) fretboard, tortoise binding and iridescent mother of pearl fret markers, this is an absolute work of art. Sad to sell it but excited for whoever becomes its new home!
