In creating its 314ce Special Edition Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar, Taylor Guitars truly left no stone unturned. This solid wood, special-edition guitar harnesses Taylor’s popular Grand Auditorium body style and its dependable V-Class bracing to produce rich and harmonically pleasing tones. Taylor used a solid Sitka spruce top and sapele back and sides to generate a full-bodied warmth with a high-end brilliance.

The tonewoods used on the 314ce Special Edition are typically found only on more expensive, higher-end guitar models, but Taylor went all-out for this guitar. Its spruce top has been torrefied (a scientific process that results in changes to the cellular structure of the wood), to produce an aged tonal quality. In other words, the spruce wood has been “broken in” for you, so you immediately get the seasoned and professional sound you desire without having to wait years for your guitar to get there naturally. In addition, the sapele back and sides were created using a blend of Hawaiian koa, and Crelicam ebony was used for the bridge and fingerboard for added projection and high-end tonal sparkle.

The 314ce is suited-up with Expression System 2 electronics, an innovative pickup creation that encompassed Taylor’s top-tier acoustic-electric amplification mechanics. At the center of Taylor’s innovative Expression System 2 (Taylor’s famed behind-the-saddle pickups) are individually calibrated and precisely positioned sensors. Its professional audio-grade preamp enables the ES2 to maintain that full-bodied amplified tone and boosts reactionary harmonic blasts. When performing through a PA, an acoustic amplifier or into recording software, the Expression System 2 brings your sound to a higher level of professionalism.
