1943 Vincent Bach Mercury Cornet (Trumpet Shaped) with New Bach Case!

This listing is for an EXCELLENT condition 1943 Vincent Bach Mercury Cornet (Trumpet Shaped) with a brand new Bach replacement case!  The beautifully aged gold lacquer on this amazing trumpet is over 90% coverage. The rest of the external areas (on top of the bell and bell tube) have new lacquer, the color of which does not match the aged lacquer, which is the reason it is not listed (nor priced) in mint condition (all areas of new lacquer are shown in the photos).

This beautiful Vincent Bach cornet was built by expert American craftsmen at the Vincent Bach factory that was in New York (see last photo)!

When I acquired this beautiful Bach cornet, the old case was in bad shape (and had an unpleasant odor) so I ordered a brand new professional Bach cornet replacement case (see photos).

This cornet is in amazing condition for being 80 years old.  Other than a few areas of new lacquer on the top of the bell (that don’t match the color of the aged lacquer), it is in mint condition.  All of the outer surfaces of the cornet are lacquered, so the only problem is the aesthetic mismatch of the new lacquer (see photos).

The valves function perfectly and have excellent compression.  It is obvious that despite its 80 years of age, it was not heavily used.  In fact, I purchased it from the original owners son.  The original owner bought it on 4-21-1944 (exactly 80 years ago).  This is the date written on the original owners manual, which is included with the cornet (see the last photo).

This amazing cornet looks and sounds fantastic!  The build quality is excellent!  The valves are smooth with great compression.  It looks and plays like it was in storage for most of the past 80 years.  Everything functions perfectly!  This is definitely the best cornet for this price on Reverb!

Proper care and maintenance includes applying valve oil and slide grease on a regular basis. I recommend using valve oil before every use for optimal performance and continued longevity.

A mouthpiece of the make and model that is preferred by the trumpeter is to be purchased separately.  Because it is a Vincent Bach cornet, it uses a standard cornet mouthpiece (which is not the case for many 80-year-old cornets).
