OK, last call. If no one will buy this (at this price you're basically getting a steal) then I'm gonna trade it off. A shame too because this is a really solid guitar for an intermediate or working musician. You can take this guitar on stage and it will give you excellent tone and not be a risk for theft or damage (you just can't take high end guitars out to clubs and bars anymore because the insurers won't cover them). I stand behind every item I sell and this guitar is well worth the price. If there is even one shortcoming, it would be that I believe the selector switch is reversed (up is the bridge PU and down is the neck). Other than than, it's a great playing great sounding guitar. I'll give it another week, after that, it probably won't be available any longer. Thanks for looking.
A rather rare Korean made guitar, I've always really like Deans. I've owned three of their acoustics, including the one I currently use. I was looking for a Sarasota when I came across this Del Sol, and realized almost immediately that this was their top of the line for these models. The only problem is that there weren't very many of them ever produced, and that makes them rather hard to find.
This one I suspect has been upgraded, since it has current production Dean pickups installed (Dean Magnetic Technologies, DMT). The neck is a DMT vintage '59, and the Bridge PU is a Leslie West "Mountain Of Tone".
Of course the tone is monster, the neck is fairly narrow (unfortunately for me just a tad wider than my short stubby fingers can manage comfortably) and thin, with low, fast action.
Also, the hardware was badly tarnished and corroded, so I ordered a Wilkinson gold stop bar, an ABR style roller bridge, and Keystone tuner knobs for the Grover's (They were in good condition and fairly backlash free). I also Teflon taped the bridge and stop posts to remove wobble and correct undercut Asian screw threads.
Overall this guitar is in really good condition for it's age (~25 YO if I had to hazard a guess), looks great, sounds killer, and plays very smoothly. I'm offering it for what I consider to be a very reasonable and affordable price. I'll split the shipping with you, so we can keep the extra cost to a minimum. Thanks for looking.
PS: The ad copy that's shown in the last picture will be included with the guitar.
*Note: I can certainly understand the reticence with regard to purchasing this guitar. After all, much more cheaply made, lower quality Chinese guitars can be purchased for $6-800 new in the box. Of course the pots and switches won't be Bournes, and the pickups won't be the brand's top of the line models, but it will look pretty even if it doesn't play or sound even half as good. That being said, I nonetheless believe that this guitar offers a much better value for the money than any current production models coming out of Indonesia, or China. Thanks again for looking.
