Blonde telecasters are iconic. Be it the earlier blackguard, butterscotch incarnation or the parchment blonde when Fender moved over to white guard, the combination of ash body and the translucent (to various degrees) finish made for an unmistakable combination.
Though worn, this is a classic, super lightweight example of mid-50s blonde finish. There are quite a few dinks and knocks and an excellent patch of wear on the back, exposing the wonderful grain of the Ash underneath. The body date is December 1955 and this is basically a 1956 spec Tele.
With the now classic v profile, the neck is in great condition. The lacquer has retained some of its gloss and has really worn comfortably along the neck. The fretboard shows signs of wear. The headstock shows signs that different tuners have been fitted and there's a repaired crack. The decal is in great shape and the cigarette burn adds a certain something. It is dated December 1955. There is plenty of life left in the frets.
The hardware is in great condition showing only some minor signs of corrosion. The pickguard is in good shape too.
Electrically there have been some minor changes. The pots are correct but have been wired as per the modern standard.. The switch is also correct. Pickups are correct and the bridge pickup has been rewound by Montys.
The guitar comes with its correct tweed hardshell case.
This guitar is certainly not lacking in the twang department. As you’d expect, the maple and ash combination gives this guitar a wonderful attack that sustains beautifully, the neck pickup providing a smooth tone with bite from the bridge.
A true classic, this is a must have for anyone looking for that elusive 50’s tele tone. Grab it before it gets away…
