This Bluesman Vintage El Dorado is a circa 2016 build. In full disclosure, John Scott forgot to put a serial number on it. We recently picked it up off a local player here in Nashville who recalls purchasing it from Bluesman around that time, so we’re going with circa 2016 on the year. The bass is in excellent condition. No fret wear, clean electronics. The truss rod functions properly and the bass sounds and feels wonderful.
Features include a nitro 3-Tone Sunburst finish with a heavy, but lovely distressing job. Over a roasted pine body, we presume. Stacked volume/tone pots give you independent volume and tone control over each pickup. The maple neck has a 1.5” nut width, medium C profile, and a rosewood fretboard with nicely rolled edges. The bass is loaded with Hipshot tuners and a Flying Mojo “pre-CBS” Jazz Bass pickup set.
How Does It Play
We have given this bass a full setup. The string action measures just 3/32” on the low E string at the 12th fret and even lower on the high G. Without any buzz.
