This Prophet is in nearly new condition except for one caveat. The floppy drive does not detect when a disk is inserted. I used compressed air and tried multiple floppies. No love. It MAY be because I updated the OS from 4.2 to 4.3. I did that before even addressing the floppy. The last time I used it, decades ago, it worked. I will include the old OS EPROM if you want to try swapping it.

Other than that, everything is amazingly clean and fully functional. All keys, knobs, and membrane switches work fine. It has a built-in bank of sounds and can be connected to a computer to load, edit, and save new samples and sounds.

Action is great and all keys strike evenly. Velocity is very responsive.

Pitch and Bend wheels work well.

This is a heavy board though...

Prophet 2000

Sequential's first entry into the low-cost digital sampler market, the Prophet 2000 is equipped with 256 kilowords of sample memory (word length of 12 bits = 1 sample), and sampling rates of 15.625, 31.250, and 41.667 kHz at 12-bit audio resolution. External storage is available through 3.5" diskettes. The Prophet 2000 features MIDI (in, out, and thru), 8-voice polyphony, up to 8 layers, and an arpeggiator. The Prophet 2000 is noted for its warm audio quality as a result of using analog VCFs and VCAs.[4]

Feedback is presented through a small LED display.The Prophet 2000 introduced features to enhance its looping capabilities, which results in easier use and reduction in clicking at the end of a loop. Prophet 2000 is also multitimbral, making it possible for multiple samples to be triggered off its keyboard at one time.[3]
