Up for sale is an EXTREMELY rare and unique Spy-6N (N-natural wood). This was the second Spy made by Johnson/Stremel Guitars USA (NOT the mass produced overseas Johnson budget brand), hence the serial #002. According to Rick Johnson (as in “Johnson Guitars” Rick Johnson), this was built in April of 1985 in San Diego, California. This exact guitar was featured the following year at Chicago NAMM 1986, the company’s first NAMM show according to record books. These Spy models are super hard to find, let alone a prototype with this kind of history. Stays in tune better than my USA made Gibsons and ESPs, and plays as smooth as my Blackmore Strat. Zero playability roughness whatsoever. Bends are incredibly easy with the current string gauge, and it can get as tight or as loose as you want. This thing was INCREDIBLY hard to research, but I eventually got in touch with the master builder and company founder himself. Rick Johnson is responsible for famous 80s guitars such as the Machine Gun, used by Ke$ha and Alice Cooper guitarist Kane Roberts, as well as a bunch of cool fighter jet shapes, mainly popularized in the 80s.
