Carvin Black X 220 C
Let me start out by answering what has been a recurrent and unending question about this guitar: WHY DOESN’T IT have the 2nd tuner lock at the top of the NECK???!!!
Because it has locking tuners. The tuners themselves perform exactly the same function and make the top neck lock unnecessary and redundant.
That will not stop people from asking and re asking but if you don’t believe me ask your tech or your luthier.
Locking Tuners are as good if not better than the top neck lock!!!
Now on to the stuff that is actually important!
I am the one owner of this guitar. By my recollection, the licensed Floyd Rose and the original shaped head stock I date this guitar around 1989. I do remember it took 8-12 weeks for them to make it and ship it to me so this was definitely “made” for me. The tech’s name is on the card as is the serial number and the reference details.
Please note this is NOT the less desirable “R” reissue from 1992 but a one off made for me by Carvin.
I have and original V220T (not for sale) with the original Kahler and I love it! I wanted another one and it appeared that Carvin had discontinued the model at some point prior to this.
When I contacted them, they confirmed the model was no longer made but said and I quote, “We can make you a more modern one off!” Hence this guitar has the original headstock but a licensed Floyd Rose. It does NOT have nor does it need the head stock locks (you will see some people add this who don’t understand what a locking tuner is!!!).
This has the locking tuners.
I replaced the original Carvin M22 pickups with a Seymour Duncan Screamin’ Demon Trembucker in the bridge position and a Di Marzio Super Distortion in the neck.
Obviously, it has a Kickax sound to it now.
The finish is near flawless butI have found 1 small chip in the black that is about 1mm in size and 2 small scratches on the side. Neither actually show up on the photos well enough to point out but they are there so I cannot in good conscience call it mint.
It has been played very little (well less than 1 hour since I got it). It’s only been out of the nice Customer Fit Carvin hard case 2x – for set ups!
Other than the pickups (I have included the originals in the carrying space) it is 100% stock as it was specifically made for me so many years ago.
That means “neck through” not bolt on and ebony fret board- not rosewood!
This is as collectable authentic and pristine an example of this guitar as you can get.
Thanks for your interest and thanks for looking!
