Rare original Newburgh GP2T in black. It is now in near mint condition, and is quite a special guitar. An example of the first bolt-on neck series Steinberger guitar. All of the restoration work was completed by Jeff Babicz, who was the former head of production at the Newburgh Steinberger factory. Jeff dressed and and mirror-polished the frets, and he serviced the electronics. Jeff completely rebuilt the TransTrem with new bearings and spring and burnished the roller saddles, so the tremolo now transposes correctly and returns to zero accurately. The TransTrem works as advertised. Transposes, allows you to lock the bridge, and works as the most musical tremolo on Earth. Bar none.
The GP-series was offered to allow for a "more affordable" Steinberger guitar. To reduce costs, most were offered with the less expensive EMG passive pickups and the much simpler "S"-trem. Dealers (thankfully) could order their GP's with the higher-grade components. This guitar has the "correct" features. A perfectly restored TransTrem is a thing of wonder. Active EMG pickups and the incredible one-piece carbon-fiber neck.
This GP2T will ship in a new HUSA gig-bag, TT arm, strap, and an extra set of calibrated strings. An amazing instrument and a solid investment. Purchasing your Steinberger from a trusted source is critical when considering these sophisticated Steinberger instruments. Questions? Please ask.
