Very good condition, completely 100% functional and working order, recently restored, though one of the EQ caps is missing.

Fantastic clean and huge sounding, this mixer is incredibly quiet, has huge amounts of headroom and will serve as the heart of your studio for many years.

Also known as the 542 series, this unit is the "drop-thru" version that can be mounted in a desk. Features (8) 34128 pre's, (3) band EQ, (8) individual direct channel outputs(!!!), (16) in-line inputs with 8 balanced XLR inputs and 8 switchable "B-inputs" via ELCO connector. (16) new Lundahl transformers (8 inputs, 8 outputs), (2) pairs control room monitor outs, (2) Aux send/return, headphone, talk-back, multi-frequency oscillator, P&G faders, and more.  The direct outputs are transformer direct (!).

As these mixers were intended for broadcast use, they have a plethora of nifty monitoring options - the individual outs could easily be utilized in a surround monitoring setup too.  It's also amazing how incredibly useful the oscillator can be!

The EQ's are amazing - they're NEVE!  Each channel features a PAN, PFL, phase switch and a 3-band EQ with top and bottom shelving and Inductor based mid-EQ @ 820Hz - 3.9Khz and 1.8Khz. LF roll-off at 47Hz, 87Hz, 150Hz.

I had it completely recapped, cleaned, and upgraded with new Lundahl transformers and individual channel outputs in 2013 by Coleman Rogers. The specs were improved with +4 dBm at the line input and +4 dBm output at the transformer output when the fader is around the -10 level.   THD+N was reduced almost 10 dB after the mods. I should mention however, the mods required the disabling of the phantom power.

Included with the mixer is a separate power supply and a custom 8-channel ELCO to d-sub cable (9' length). The power supply comes with an 8-foot cable.

Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of keeping this mixer and it belongs in a studio where it will be much better utilized.

I think the price is very reasonable given the extensive (and expensive) refurbishment and upgrades. Original NEVE units only appreciate in value...
