About This Listing

You’re looking at a 1973 Fender Musicmaster wiring harness including the pots and pickup. This harness came with a disassembled Musicmaster Bass that I bought from a friend who took it apart and did not get to putting it back together.

The pickup, is a six pole pickup identical to what was found in the Fender Mustang guitar, and it the same as a Stratocaster pickup except that it does not have the raised magnets, it’s a flat pole pickup, which is a more practical pickup for a modern setup since the Stratocaster pickup was originally designed for the guitar to be set up with a Wound G string. Although it is six poles instead of four, these basses do tend to sound very good and can be heard in music ranging from a John Mayer record all the way to Margaret Glaspy’s band. The “toy bass” attitude is not based in reality.

When the bass was taken apart, it appears that the ground wire was snipped before the bridge was taken off, but I have the ground wire, and so if that were reattached then this wiring harness would be ready to go.  I do not have a multimeter to measure the output of the pickup but did play this bass prior to it being taken apart and everything worked fine. Priced to move.
