This particular guitar has an interesting history and backstory. If you are looking for a factory stock vintage Guild guitar, this is not the guitar for you.
This particular vintage Guild S-300 was built sometime between the late 1970s and the early 1980s. However, this guitar was never fully completed at the factory. Essentially, Guild had built and stained/finish the entire guitar, but never installed any hardware or electronic on it.
So at some point, a previous owner took it on themselves to install all of the electronics and hardware themselves. And when I purchased the guitar I purchased it with all of the electronics/hardware that were installed by a previous owner, rather than by the Guild factor.
When I first received the guitar, I noticed that the guitar was not properly intonated higher up the neck, so I took it to a professional lutheir (Guitar Repair Co. located in Columbus, OH). The luthier told me that the guitar was not intonating because the previous owner had installed the bridge too close to the neck, which caused the scale length to be off, so it would never intonate properly unless the bridge was relocated to the correct position on the guitar body.
So to save this very cool lefty Guild, I had the luthier relocate the bridge to the correct postion and plug and refinish the holes that were left over from where the bridge was previously installed. Please see the photos of the bridge/stop piece to see the refinshed holes from where the bridge/stop piece were previous located.
Since this guitar never left the factory in original stock condition and had been modified, I decided to have the luthier install a Bigsy as well.
I believe the pickups are a Seymour Ducan JB/59 combo in the bridge/neck. The previous owner installed the pickups and I didn't swap them out.
Overall, the guitar is fully functional now and it plays and sounds great. It's a really cool alternative to something like an SG (it's similar in thickness to an SG, although its body might be slightly thicker, I don't own an SG at the moment, so I can't compare them).
If you're looking for a really cool vintage alternative looking Guild guitar and don't mind that it has been heavily modified, then this guitar might be perfect for you.
Again, this guitar is sold AS IS and is not factory stock/original.
