Item: USFE13
In 1990, the Jackson USA Series of guitars were first introduced. Jackson enthusiast’s flipped with excitement as the ability to get an American made Jackson was now possible, and at a price 40% cheaper than a Custom Shop Jackson. The USA Series offered 4 models - the Fusion, Soloist, Rhoads, and the Warrior, each model was available in an array of colors, or 1 of 10 hand-painted, airbrushed graphic schemes. Jackson also started a new serial number system with all USA Series guitars.
What we have here, is a 1990 Jackson USA Fusion with the Sunset graphic, serial number 13. Imagine how excited I was when this killer axe came in on trade. The Fusion has a slightly shorter scale length allowing for extended chord and scale fingerings, and the strings bend easier than your standard 25.5” scaled guitar. If you’ve ever struggle with those crazy Jake E Lee stretches (we all do), this guitar makes those riffs playable. I found that shredding on this guitar is like racing a Lamborghini, it’s so fast it takes a moment to learn how to control the speed. The electronics are active, with a 9 volt battery inside the control cavity, and both the electronics and the pickups are original – and they rock. The pickups have a bright, early EVH sound when the second knob is turn all the way up. When this knob is rolled down, gain is added with a boost to the lows and mids. Flip the switch, and this secondary knob becomes an onboard Wah, I love it. This 25 year old, vintage instrument is in immaculate condition with extremely minimal fretwear. There is one small chip on the front facing upper horn that did not even go through the paint, this chip is smooth and not flaking because this guitar was built “in a time” when men weren’t afraid to put a serious coat of Polyurethane on an axe. The back shape of the neck has a genuine 80’s carve, thinner than a modern Jackson, and a feeling that transports you back to the Glory Years. The Quartersawn Maple neck has turned a vintage brown and resembles a piece of baked Maple, this is the kind of wood you can’t buy new, old wood. This 1990 Fusion is a real collector’s piece, but it is also a genuine player ready to do another 25 year Tour of Duty. Vintage Jacksons are extremely hard to find, and this one is in near perfect condition, do not hesitate, buy it today. - ScottSerial # 000013
