About This Listing

This is an unplayed guitar with cosmetic issues and no pickguard, but otherwise what you would get from a new 500/1 of its vintage. Purchased new from a collectibles dealer in 1997, allegedly signed by Paul, the guitar sat in its closed case for 20 years, causing the celluloid pickguard to off-gas. The off-gassing caused green corrosion on strings and all chrome parts, which has been cleaned up as carefully as possible without disturbing the finishes further, but leaving very visible rough spots on pickups and tailpiece. Also, the pickguard (replaceable) self-destructed. NOTE: I have not had the McCartney signature professionally examined, I do not believe it to be genuine and the bass is not being sold as signed. The purchaser who left it in the case for 20 years (and gave it to me because of our shared Beatlemania) did not play bass and I don't play bass, so aside from tuning it up and verifying that the controls work when I had the corroded strings changed (new, course, Bellas), this bass has not been played! There are 5 finish cracks and a shallow crack where a pickguard screw went in (see photos). Original case is mint condition. It's not the newly found Lost Bass, but it's your chance to have a "new-ish" lefty 500/1. Make me a fair offer.
